Fusion Veil Workshop Tribaret Style!

3pm-430pm

Fusion Veil Workshop Tribaret Style

All students receive a cd with the music and written choreography.   Choreography for solo or duet, by Attar and performed by the Zeinas of the Middle Eastern Arts Collaborative of western MA, at the Academy of Music.  Tribal fusion with a blend of cabaret, plenty of  drama and pretty veil work with an unfolding to an ethereal tribal fusion song.  This choreography tells a story with a blend  of techniques such as the sand storm, backwards butterfly flips, shoulder drag, expressive hands, eyes, and more.

TRIBARET VEIL

About the choreography:  This is a tribaret style veil choreography, very beautiful and very deep.  This choreography was performed by the Zeinas at the Academy of Music for First Night Northampton 2011 (seen in the photo).  Wonderful for a soloist or a troupe.

Students will receive a cd with the song plus written choreography along side the instruction. Students are welcome to perform this choreography, please reference Attar when you do.

"Attar is the Veil Goddess! The artistry, fluidity and grace of her veil work is unrivaled. I am so grateful to have learned some of her veil magic!" - Asherah Imperia co-director of the Zeinas.

About Attar: Well known for her veil performances, Attar often times gets requested to offer both private veil intruction and veil choreography in class.

Co-founder of the Middle Eastern Arts Collaborative with Joanne Tebaldi (Shifah) and director of area troupes Adham, Tiamat, Alnilam and co-director of the Zeinas.  Attar is also a sponsor of international dancers Leyla Jouvana and Roland (from Germany) and Wendy Buonaventura (author, choreographer for the UK).

Attar began her studies in belly dance in CT in 1998, began her performance career in 2000, offered her first public class in 2002.  In addition to technique and expression through dance, Attar offers her audience and students a fun and light hearted approach to the stage and each other.  History of this ancient dance is diverse and at times very subjective.  Out of sensitivity to the diversity found in the belly dance community, history lessons are saved for questions after class where students are provided with referrals to on-line resources and written resources at our local libraries.

Diversity on stage:  Be it a traditional Middle Eastern dance or fusion, years of study have given Attar the ability to perform many styles with appropriate music, costuming and movement.  These subjects are touched upon in classes as well.

Chiftetelli Veil Workshop Cabaret Style!

1pm-2:30pm

Chiftetelli Veil Workshop Cabaret Style!

All students receive a cd with the music and written choreography.  Did you know that chiftetelli not only is a rhythm great for slow sensuous movements, but it also means “belly dance” in the Turkish language.  So we will begin our choreography in a “Turkish turtleneck wrap” variation then slowly and beautifully transition through a series of veil work and belly dance movements to celebrate chiftetelli!  We will also work with the butterfly envelope, turns, Turkish turtleneck, the importance of graceful transitions, frames, and expression.
